Griz play Bobcats this Saturday in Bozeman
THE GAME: The University of Montana Grizzlies (15-5/7-1) begin the second half of their Big Sky Conference schedule this Saturday, Jan. 29, playing the Montana State Bobcats (11-9/5-3) in MSU's Worthington Arena (7,250/Press row: 406-994-3210) in a 7:05 (Mtn.) game.
RADIO: UM's flagship station is KGVO Radio (1290 AM). The "Voice of the Grizzlies" Mick Holien calls the play-by-play and Greg Sundberg provides color commentary.
TV: The game will be aired live on MTN stations throughout Montana, with Derek Buerkle (play-by-play) and Aslan Hodges (color) calling the action.

THE FIRST MEETING EARLIER THIS SEASON (LAST SATURDAY): At Montana 75, Montana State 61: Four of five starters scored in double figures to lead the Grizzlies. The Grizzlies improved to 15-5 overall and 7-1 in the Big Sky, and have now won 10 of their last 11. When MSU scored on two free throws with 2:36 left to cut the UM lead to 69-57, and that was the closest that the Bobcats would get for the remainder of the game. Montana came out of the blocks fast, out-scoring MSU substantially in the opening eight minutes, and when guard Will Cherry scored on a lay-up with 12:13 left until halftime he gave the Grizzlies a 20-6 lead. Montana led 40-29 at halftime. Junior forward Art Steward led the Griz and scored a game-high 19 points. Also in double-figures for UM were center Brian Qvale (17), Cherry (16), and forward Derek Selvig (12). Qvale registered his fourth double-double in a row, with 17 points and 18 rebounds, and he tied his career-high with the 18 boards, including 10 offensive caroms. Center Cody Anderson led MSU with 13 points, while forward Bobby Howard grabbed a team-best 12 rebounds.
QVALE POW: Qvale was tabbed the Big Sky Player of the week for the third time this year, as he scored 36 points and grabbed 28 rebounds in UM's win at Idaho State and over MSU.
GRIZ 14TH IN MID-MAJOR POLL: Montana is now 14th (from 13th) in the recent (Jan. 24) CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top 25 poll. St. Mary's (16-2) remained first in the poll and received 26 first place votes.
QVALE BREAKS BIG SKY/UM CAREER BLOCKS RECORDS: Qvale is now the all-time leader in Montana and Big Sky history with 216 career blocks. Qvale recently passed Daren Engellant who held the Montana and Big Sky records with 212 blocks (1988-92).
CHERRY, QVALE RANKED AMONG LEADERS: Cherry remained sixth in the nation in steals at 3.1 a game. Qvale is ranked ninth in the country in blocked shots (3.2 a game) and 12th in field goal percentage (59.3%).
